   Something Old Something New

Something Old, Something New. Weddings are seeing it ALL in 2022!

It seems that weddings have made a full comeback! This year, we are excited to see all sorts of different trends and styles, which truly reflect the tastes and personalities of each individual couple. Many couples are opting for a more subdued micro-wedding, which includes only their closest friends and family members. And on the complete other side of the spectrum, there are couples that are choosing to host huge events and jampacked weekend weddings.

As for other contrasting trends that we are seeing…

Understated luxury vs. over-the-top elements.  For the latter trend, we love the modern English garden-style events that have become popular.  Think bold, lush, romantically whimsical, and dramatic.  Think Bridgerton!

Traditional vows vs. unique unity ceremonies.  We have all witnessed traditional vows, but unique unity ceremonies run the gamut and have turned into particularly creative events.  There’s no one-size-fits-all for these rituals but some of the more popular ceremonies do include tree planting, knot-tying, sealing lover letters, candle lighting, sand pouring, or storing a bottle of wine for a future anniversary celebration.

Simple silhouettes vs. bolder looks.  Clean lines and subtle details are for the more minimalistic bride whereas an edgier bride might opt for a deep plunging neckline, illusion dress with sheer cutouts, or even a mini/short gown.

Earth tones vs. rich colors.  For the earth tones, we are seeing nude, beige, soft white, dusty rose, cognac, olive green and rust.  On the flip side, vivid colors are also back.  One example is the Pantone color of the year, which is called Very Peri.   This rich hue packs a punch and can be found across all wedding elements such as flowers, décor, stationery, and attire.

Travel is back.  Easy minimoons vs. more exotic honeymoon destinations.  It really depends on the couple’s comfort level when it comes to honeymoon planning.  ‘Easier’ destinations include Napa Valley, Florida, Aruba, and the Bahamas.  On the contrary, as post-pandemic travel restrictions lighten up, many adventurous couples are making up for lost time and checking off bucket-list-type destinations such as the Maldives, Dubai, Bora Bora and Tahiti.
